Good bye winter! What a winter it was too! It’s almost time for TTA programs to start! On Tuesday, May 3, TTA programs begin with Women’s Doubles. The Round Robin Kick-off with light refreshments will be on Saturday, June 18. Sign up is required for the Kick-off event, so be sure to sign up and join the group.
Carol and Joe Pillsworth will again direct and manage activities at Prospect Park for the City of Troy. TTA is delighted that Carol and Joe have agreed once more to teach our group lessons on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. The group lessons are included in your membership!
TTA has been awarded a $500 grant from USTA for a fourth year. The Eastern Adult Tennis Foundation (EATF) offers grants to help non-profit organizations initiate or expand their tennis activities. This grant is specifically for our seniors, 62 and over. The aim of the program is for our seniors to be happy, healthy and on the courts. Skills and strategies will be offered in an easy paced, fun clinic with Joe Pillsworth. Please indicate on the membership form if you are interested in participating in the senior program. Senior Clinics will be held on Friday mornings at 9:00.
Thanks to Sue Hauber for her hard work in securing this grant for TTA.
TTA now has a scrapbook celebrating our first 100 years. Ann DiNuzzo, Donna Britton and Hannelore Wilfert have worked very hard on this project. A great deal of time and energy went into its creation. It will be on display at the season opening Round Robin for all to see. We are fortunate to have such dedicated members in our ranks.
The Prospect Park tennis courts were repaired last summer and new permanent metal picnic tables also were installed. The City of Troy funded both of those projects. In addition, The City replaced additional nets, so we now have new nets on all courts. Friends of Prospect Park installed lovely wrought iron benches throughout the park. Joe Pillsworth continually has projects to enhance our area of the park, as well. We are proud of all of these improvements.
TTA offers many tennis programs throughout the summer at a very reasonable price. The quality and variety of TTA programming would not be possible without the support of many volunteers, both TTA officers and TTA friends. You can assure that TTA will continue to provide varied, quality tennis activities by contributing your time, enthusiasm and expertise to the group.
Join the Troy Tennis Association today. Don’t delay! Send in your membership form and mark your calendar with TTA tennis dates. With your TTA membership you can enjoy lots of tennis activities at the Park this summer!
See you on the courts!
